An alter ego that can be controlled at will... its an interesting idea to class being moody, grumpy, stubborn, arrogant, grotesque and any other "period" related quality to that of an alter ego and use it less often if its becoming too dominant. If i'm walking around with a face like a slapped bum then theres no wonder people might not be so welcoming...but if thats me then why should i change myself?
this i feel has crossed peoples minds before - to all those Jack Dee's and Victor Meldrews who actually want to be globally loved but cant help being moody, i dont think cutting down on you're practised aquainted miserable style and instead being a little more radiant counts you as a fake, it just means that you are acknowledging another part of yourself that exists and should perhaps be seen more often. Grumpy old men are grumpy old men because when you become an old man the sterotype is generally to be grumpy; as well as having the fashion type of a victorian and the tendancy to urinate before reaching the toilet. just because people become used to you're grump dosen't mean you have to act it forever.
confused? no, good.. if you are like me and actually enjoy complaining about everything and you're always looking annoyed and then wonder why some avoid you; then i suggest tone it down abit, and save that character for precious moments when they can really shine. other wise it will become a bore.
So restricting the persona of an unwilling restless moaning knob head to the comedy stage and the joke notepad sounds like a good plan to me. you too?.. excellent.
smile, you may just find it liberating!
