Thoughts;- university and becoming

The days, weeks and months since applying to university have passed seemingly as quick as the Batman arkham asylum story mode, and now with less than a week until my life is boxed up shaken about and released in a new place i'm starting to think how drastically things are actually going to change.. going to miss a few people like crazy and the worries of 100% independence are growing. A scary thing with university is when people ask me "what do you want to be" and i feel like if i say i want to be an actor they wont see it as a serious response, ahh well! everybody is too focused on what they want "to be" where they will end up, i recently found this article on the k-os forums about why we shouldn't look at "to be" as very important, check it out.

"We are slaves of the verb “to be”. In society, we feel as though we must ‘be’ something in order for our lives and purpose to be fulfilled. However, in an enlightened state, it’s not about being something but rather BECOMING something. The end result is irrelevant, and it’s the ways in which you arrive to that result that truly defines your life in every aspect as a whole.
‘Being’ or ‘to be’ implies past, present and future as separate entities. To be truly and infinitely powerful, you must unite the past, present and future into an entirety known as your time. Your time may be short or it may be long, so why strive ‘to be’ something when our existence on this earth is indefinite. Our only obligation in this world should be to become a unified, holistic self. Notice how I say ‘Become’. This is an everlasting evolution of the self, and it doesn’t imply past, present or future as fragments but rather as a whole. The rest of these things that we strive ‘to be’ are trivial, and we as people’s greatest folly."

Now theres something that takes off the pressure of planning a life, life will apparently be what we make it whilst searching for that success. Anyone reading this who agrees should definitely check out k-os, as well as a great musician his lyrics are soulful, very clever and brilliantly mind consuming!
